Alnwick Halloween House Returns in 2026
Alnwick’s Halloween House Returns in 2026
A spectacular week of ghosts, ghouls, skeletons and spooky surprises
There are some things you expect to find in Alnwick in October: crisp autumn walks, cosy pubs, the changing colours of the trees and, of course, the magnificent backdrop of Alnwick Castle.
But for one week each year, there is another Alnwick attraction that takes centre stage after dark.
Alnwick’s Halloween House is back for 2026!
From Saturday 24 October until Saturday 31 October 2026, the Allerburn Lea house will once again be transformed into a spectacular Halloween display, with the lights, skeletons, creatures and decorations coming alive every evening from 6pm until 8pm.
And yes — after a year away from the spooky season, we’re at it again!
A Halloween tradition in Alnwick
What started as a love of Halloween and a desire to create something a little different has grown into a much-loved annual spectacle.
Over the years, the display has become well known locally, attracting visitors from Alnwick and much further afield. Previous displays have featured enormous skeletons, giant spiders, pumpkins, creepy creatures and even the infamous Bone Throne.
The scale of the display has continued to grow, with the garden and frontage transformed using lighting, props and plenty of imagination.
Local and regional media have previously described the display as one of the area’s most extravagant Halloween decorations, with ITV News also featuring the Alnwick Halloween House in its coverage of North East Halloween displays.
And while we might be slightly biased, we think it has become a pretty special part of Halloween in Alnwick.
Halloween with a purpose
There is another important reason why we put so much time and effort into the display.
It’s all about raising money for charity.
The Halloween House is free to visit, but visitors are encouraged to make a donation if they can. Donations can be made through the cash donation box, JustGiving or the QR code available at the display.
Over the years, the Halloween House has raised a significant amount for charitable causes. By 2024, Leo and Charlotte had raised almost £15,000+ through the Halloween displays.
The fundraising has supported different causes over the years. In 2023, the display raised £3,300 for The Samaritans and Lymphoma Action, something that was later recognised when Charlotte received a Mayor’s Civic Award for her contribution to local fundraising.
So while the display is designed to make people smile, jump and perhaps look over their shoulder once or twice, there is a serious purpose behind it too.
Every donation, however large or small, helps.
What can you expect at Alnwick’s Halloween House?

Some of the giant skeletons and Halloween decorations from Alnwick’s annual Halloween House display.
We don’t want to give too much away.
Part of the fun is arriving after dark and seeing the display for yourself.
Previous years have seen the house and garden covered with huge skeletons, spiders, pumpkins, illuminated figures and all manner of creepy characters. The combination of large-scale props and colourful lighting makes the display particularly impressive once the sun has gone down.
And every year we try to change things, add something new and make it bigger and better.
So if you’ve visited before, don’t assume you’ve seen it all!
The photographs in this article give you a little taste of what has appeared in previous years — but we’ll leave some surprises for October.
When is Alnwick’s Halloween House open?
The 2026 display will be open:
Saturday 24 October – Saturday 31 October 2026
Every evening: 6pm – 8pm
There is no admission charge.
Visitors are simply invited to enjoy the display and, if they are able, make a donation towards the charitable fundraising.
Whether you’re visiting with children, bringing friends along, staying in Alnwick for the weekend or simply want to see what all the fuss is about, everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the spectacle.
Where is Alnwick’s Halloween House?
The Halloween House is in Allerburn Lea, Alnwick, 1st house on the right, close to the town centre and directly opposite The Alnwick Garden.
It is a residential area, so we ask everyone visiting to please be considerate of local residents.
Important parking information
There is NO visitor parking within the Allerburn Lea estate.
Please do not drive into the estate looking for somewhere to park.
Visitors are asked to use the car parks around Alnwick town centre, including the Greenwell Lane car parks, and walk from there.
The Halloween House is only a short walk from central Alnwick, making it much easier — and considerably less stressful — to leave the car behind and enjoy an evening walk to see the display.
This is particularly important during the two-hour opening period, when the area can become busy with visitors and passing traffic.
Staying in Alnwick for Halloween?
If you’re travelling to Alnwick to enjoy the Halloween weekend, why not make a night of it?
The Bondgate Boutique is ideally located in the heart of historic Alnwick, making it a convenient base for exploring the town, Alnwick Castle, The Alnwick Garden and everything else happening during your stay.
And if you’re looking for somewhere special for a longer stay, our sister property, Tate House, offers another excellent option in the centre of Alnwick.
With Halloween falling on a Saturday in 2026, it is likely to be a particularly lively weekend in Alnwick.
A big Halloween thank you
Creating the Halloween House takes a considerable amount of time, imagination and effort.
There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes before the first skeleton is put into position and the first light is switched on!
But seeing people arrive, watching children point at the decorations, hearing the reactions from visitors and knowing that the display is helping raise money for charity makes all the hard work worthwhile.
The support from the local community over the years has been fantastic, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has visited, donated and helped spread the word.
Whether you’ve been coming for years or this will be your first visit, we hope you’ll come along in October and enjoy Alnwick’s Halloween House 2026.
Just remember…
The lights go on at 6pm.
The monsters are waiting.
And we’ll see you there!
