Arrival & Parking

We do not have on-site parking, but several convenient options are available nearby.

  • Bondgate Without: Overnight parking 6:00pm–9:00am

  • Greenwell Road Long-Stay (NE66 1HB): Free, 3–4 minutes’ walk

  • The Plough Hotel (next door): By arrangement, subject to availability

Access to The Plough’s car park is via a narrow archway; most vehicles can manage with care.

Check-in

Self check-in is available from 15:00 onwards using a door code sent once payment is confirmed.

There is no staffed reception or meet-and-greet service. We are owner-operated and nearby, and always contactable if needed.

If you would like to arrive earlier, we offer a guaranteed early check-in from 13:00 for £20 (priority cleaning and confirmed room access two hours before standard check-in), subject to availability and scheduling. Bookable during online reservations.

Early access before 15:00 cannot otherwise be guaranteed due to turnaround schedules.

Booking & payments

All bookings must be prepaid by card. We are unable to accept cash or payments on arrival.

Non-refundable rates are discounted and may be charged at any point after booking, including immediately. Flexible rates are charged closer to arrival, as shown during the booking process.

If a payment card fails or requires verification, we’ll contact you with a secure link to update your details. Until payment is confirmed, final check-in information cannot be released.

House Standards

We are a quiet, well-maintained guest house and ask guests to be respectful of others at all times.

  • No parties, gatherings, or unregistered visitors

  • Noise should be kept to a minimum, particularly in the evening

  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted anywhere inside the building

These standards help ensure a comfortable stay for everyone.

Care of Rooms

Please report any issues during your stay so we can address them promptly.

Extractor fans in en-suite bathrooms may run automatically. This is intentional to remove moisture, protect the building, and prevent condensation. Closing the bathroom door reduces noise.

Linen Damage / Replacement Charge
Where hygienically appropriate, we will make one stain-removal attempt. If the stain cannot be removed and the linen remains unusable, a replacement charge will be applied.
Linen that is heavily soiled (including contamination risk) is not machine-washed to protect hygiene standards and equipment, and will be disposed of. A disposal/replacement charge will apply.

Breakfast & Food Options

We are a room-only guest house and do not serve breakfast on-site.

Alnwick has a strong independent food scene, with cafés, bakeries and cooked breakfasts all within a short walk. This gives guests flexibility on where, when, and how much they choose to eat.

Left Property

We do not offer guaranteed luggage storage before check-in or after check-out. On occasion, limited storage may be possible at our discretion, but this is not a formal service and cannot be relied upon.

Any items left behind will be held for a short period. Return postage or courier costs are the responsibility of the guest.

Damages & Liabilities

Guests are expected to take reasonable care of the room, furnishings, fittings, and communal areas during their stay.

Any loss, damage, or additional cleaning required as a result of reckless, negligent, or inappropriate behaviour, or failure to follow house guidance, may be charged to the guest. This includes (but is not limited to) damage to furniture, fixtures, bedding, towels, flooring, or equipment.

Charges are based on the actual cost of repair, replacement, or specialist cleaning, including associated labour and materials. These are operational recovery costs, not penalties.

We cannot accept liability for loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings unless it arises from proven negligence on our part. Vehicles and their contents are parked entirely at the owner’s risk.

The Bondgate Boutique cannot be held liable for disruption, loss, or inconvenience caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to utility outages, adverse weather, third-party service failures, or local works.

Where appropriate, evidence may be relied upon to assess damage or misuse, including housekeeping reports, time logs, photographs, and CCTV footage covering public areas only.

Security & Surveillance

For the safety of guests and the building, CCTV operates in public areas only, including entrances and communal spaces. There is no surveillance inside bedrooms or private bathrooms.

Fire safety equipment and alarms are in place throughout the property. Please do not interfere with or tamper with any safety systems.

Bedroom Types

We have no Twin or Single beds. But we do have:

  • King Beds: Bedrooms 1 to 5

  • Super King Beds: Bedroom 6 & 7

All bedrooms are En-Suite with walk in shower cubicles.
