The Alnwick Playhouse

Creativity on Our Doorstep

Originally built in 1925, the playhouse is now one of the region’s most established arts venues. The unique building retains much of its original charm, both inside and outside, and is a well-known landmark in the area.

Home to the NTC Touring Theatre Company, a busy youth theatre group and an art gallery, the venue offers a packed, eclectic programme throughout the year. This includes cinema performances, plays, dance, music and art exhibitions. There’s also a bar and cafe where can can dine whilst soaking up the creative atmosphere.

Highlights in March 2018 include:

2nd March – Magic Mozart by Candlelight
A sumptuous, fully-costumed show immersing the audience in the baroque world and music of this most famous composer.

8th March – Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
National Theatre Live streaming brings Tennessee William’s famous book to life.

10th March – Carmen
Royal Opera House Live streaming of one of the most famous operas in the world.

17th March – Treasure Island
Alnwick’s Mini Youth Theatre Group perform this timeless classic.

20th – 24th March – My Fair Lady
Award-winning Alnwick Stage Musical Society present Lerner & Loewe’s popular musical masterpiece.

27th March – Bernstein Centenary
Royal Opera House Live streaming of three ballets.

29th March – Leaving
Curious Monkey in association with Northern Stage tells real life stories of care leavers when they leave the care system.
